Wokingham District Council has over 145,000 constituents and around 70,000 tax paying households.

 

The Council needed an Internet website for communication with their constituents and Intranet for their staff. The key requirements were ease of use for information update and the ability to create multiple databases as part of the websites.

Wokingham District Council invested in EasySite CMS to manage their website and Intranet.

 

Staff responsible for managing content were able to begin work after just 3 hours training due to the non-technical and intuitive EasySite interface. Site Administrators can approve all content before it goes live on the site through the integrated moderation functionality.

Within eight weeks of contract award the website went live with over 2,000 pages and 100,000 entries stored in over 10 integrated databases. Approximately 2,000 staff or external users can add content on defined parts of the website.

The Planning Application and Decision database allows visitors to search for applications within specific parishes of the District and also check decision status.

Would-be planning applicants can also use a local Building Control database by clicking on a District map to find their appropriate Building Control Surveyor contact details.

 

External bodies can update information on their parts of the website – e.g. School Governors, Head Teachers. Staff, can login to update school information and communicate with each other.

 

Visitors can even pay their council tax bills online and join a mailing list to receive the latest information about news and events taking place in the district.

 

The council use EasySite Multi-styles Plugin Module that allows them to have different look-and-feel in different parts of the website.
